Brazilian-born singer Bïa released her first album in 1997. Her Afro-Brazilian rhythms and velvety voice were quick to charm audiences. She went on to open for Julien Clerc before giving highly-anticipated performances at the Festival in 2001 and 2003. Bïa released Nocturno, her fifth CD, in 2008; a collection of warm and melancholy songs, Nocturno was recorded in Montreal and produced by partner Érik West Millette. A citizen of the world, Bïa sings in numerous languages, including French and Portuguese.
