A native of the Glarus valley in Switzerland, Félix Stüssi is a self-taught pianist. He furthered his independent learning curve with several experienced teachers as well as pursuing studies in ethnomusicology at the University of Zurich. In 1998, he moved to Montreal and his career as a pianist, composer, arranger and conductor started to take off. In 2007, Stüssi was the winner of the Festival's General Motors Grand Jazz Award. He and his quintet teamed up with trombonist Ray Anderson to launch albums Baiji in 2009, Hieronymus the following year and Arrabbiata in 2015. He also formed Les Malcommodes with Pierre Tanguay and Daniel Lessard and recorded an album in 2012.
