A native of the Glarus valley in Switzerland, Félix Stüssi is a self-taught pianist. He furthered his independent learning curve with several experienced teachers as well as pursuing studies in ethnomusicology at the University of Zurich. In 1998, he moved to Montreal and his career as a pianist, composer, arranger and conductor started to take off. In 2007, Stüssi was the winner of the Festival's General Motors Grand Jazz Award. He and his quintet teamed up with trombonist Ray Anderson to launch albums Baiji in 2009and Hieronymus the following year. In 2012, the pianist recorded and played some shows with Pierre Tanguay and Daniel Lessard as Les Malcommodes.
