Born Kathryn Dawn Lang, this Canadian artist discovered her calling at college, while taking part in a theatrical production on the life of Patsy Cline. Determined to follow in the great Western singer's footsteps, lang recorded her first disc, Friday Dance Promenade (1983), with the group The Reclines. Three years later, lang got her breakthrough in the United States with Angel with a Lariat, a colourful blend of country, rock and kitschy ballads. On Ingénue (1992), which includes the hit Constant Craving, the artist made the shift to a sophisticated pop style. Simultaneously, lang wrote for film and collaborated with a number of big names, such as Tony Bennett. In 2005 she released a covers disc, Hymns of the 49th Parallel. Sing It Loud! came out in 2011.
