At the forefront of the next generation of young jazz musicians, Canadian bassist and composer Brandi Disterheft first honed her skills by performing with her mother, jazz pianist Fran Jare and her group, as a teenager. Soon after - and all before reaching the age of 25 -, she graced the stage of Carnegie Hall, served as opening act for Dave Brubeck and Diana Krall, won a Juno Award for her first album Debut (2007) and played numerous jazz festivals around the world. On her recent album, Second Side (2009), she takes the lead as bassist and offers a voyage through cool jazz and Brazilian music, with special guests Holly Cole and Ranee Lee.
