Born in Saint Louis, Greg Osby is probably one of the best known saxophone players of recent years. Certain observers consider him the heir to the be-bop creators. An all-around musician, Greg Osby has played funk, soul and R&B and accompanied a number of reggae and calypso groups. He has also been seen working shoulder-to-shoulder with Dizzy Gillespie, Lester Bowie, Jack DeJohnette, Cassandra Wilson, Herbie Hancock and Steve Coleman. He is a fabulous improviser, his extempore playing fluid and forceful.
