Carlos del Junco
1958 -
Origin: Cuba / Ontario, Canada
Main instrument:
Harmonica
Genres: Blues, R&B/Soul/Funk
This Cuban-born musician began playing the harmonica at 14. Passionate about all of the arts, his studies eventually led him to sculpture as well. A master of the diatonic harmonica (the original 10-hole harmonica), he studied the overblow technique under Howard Levy and has since pioneered a technique that's allowed him to lend this folk instrument an all-new sophistication. De Junco has recorded with numerous artists, including Bruce Cockburn, Kim Mitchell, and Holly Cole. In 2008, he worked with Norah Jones and Cassandra Wilson, adding texture to their music.
