Matt Schofield

1977 -

Origin: United Kingdom

Main instrument: Acoustic guitar/electric guitar

Genre: Blues

Born in Manchester, UK, Matt Schofield was immersed in the world of American blues music at an early age, thanks in part to his father's rich record collection. At 18, he was already touring professionally with world renowned groups, namely with harmonica player Lee Sankey and 1960s pop star turned blues diva Dana Gillespie. His seamless guitar technique and style brought him considerable attention and praise, and soon enough the young musician kick-started his career with the formation of The Matt Schofield trio. Featuring only guitar, drums and Hammond organ, the band first released The Trio, Live, a mini-album of cover songs, followed by a string of records: Siftin' Thru Ashes (2005), Ear to the Ground (2007, Heads, Tails & Aces (2009), Anything But Time (2011), Ten From The Road (2012), Far As I Can See (2014)
