Bill Frisell is probably one of the three most celebrated jazz guitarists of the last 30 years, together with Pat Metheny and John Scofield. Since he first emerged in the early 1970s, this bold and inventive musician has stayed true to jazz, but that hasn't prevented him from trying his hand at avant-garde, noise, bop, folk, country, bluegrass, rock, blues, American popular music and even classical music. A Festival regular, Frisell was one of the stars of the 1997 Invitation series. His recent recordings includes a John Lennon tribute album, All We Are Saying.
