Chet Doxas

1980 -

Origin: Canada

Main instrument: Saxophone

Genre: Jazz

Born in Montréal in 1980, young saxophonist, composer and arranger Chet Doxas' prolific career began at four, with piano and drumming lessons, later on turning his interest to the clarinet and saxophone as a teenager. With a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance from Montréal's McGill University and a scholarship from the Banff International Jazz Workshop, the musician's talents have been heard alongside some of jazz's finest, including Dave Douglas and Joe Lovano, and on various movie soundtracks, namely the award-winning Les Triplettes de Belleville. As co-leader or sideman, his multiple projects include the trio Byproduct with Zack Lober and Jim Doxas, and the Montreal Jazz Saxophone Quartet. His solo debut, Sidewalk Etiquette, was released in 2006. Big Sky came along four years later.
