Jean Pierre Zanella

1957 -

Origin: Quebec, Canada

Main instrument: Saxophone

Genres: Jazz, Latin

Jean Pierre Zanella has a well deserved reputation as a musician, composer and arranger both in Québec and internationally. He performed at Montreux as far back as 1982, and even then he was rubbing shoulders with such big names in jazz and pop as Michel Legrand and Paul Anka. In 2002, he was nominated for a Juno and won an ADISQ award for his CD Mother Tree. He's since indulged a penchant for the complex melodies and rhythms of Brazil, with melodious adaptations of Antonio Carlos Jobim. In 2010, Zanella released the long-awaited Infinito record and, the following year, received the Oscar Peterson Award.
